A Blustery Day

Here in the Delaware Valley we are experiencing yet another blizzard.
There has been snow on the ground since February 9th. We are not used to this. But, there is no need to complain because the snow will come down anyway.

Wednesday, before it began to snow, I saw my first flock of Robins. The Robins retreat to the woods and forests when winter sets in. They don’t migrate far.

There are a flock of Robins in the woods less than a mile from my house. You can see them drinking from the little creek that runs through the woods.

I checked my nature journal and I have seen the first flock outside of the woods, many times around the same date. There seems to be a two-week window they appear in.

Robins in the snow. Spring is just around the corner.
